PHP 4 community support ending. |
|
A little over three years ago, the PHP community released version 5 of its popular programming language. PHP5 has now become the version of choice for many new PHP projects. However, PHP4 remains popular and is still widely used. The PHP community has announced that December 2007 will be the end of life for PHP4. While this may sound ominous, it doesn’t mean that PHP4 will simply vanish. But it does mean that the PHP community will stop maintaining PHP4. If you operate an osCommerce store that has not been fully upgraded in the last year or so then it's quite likely you will be affected when hosting companies insist on using PHP5 (Older versions of osCommerce that were developed for PHP4 will probably stop working unless they have been made PHP5 compliant) If you are concerned about this issue then please contact us for details on planning your upgrade strategy. |

osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a Released |
This is a bugfix release that replaces osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2. The only changes that have been made include the following 2 bugfixes that were introduced with 2.2 RC2: - Use of PHP 5 only stripos() function during the database restoration routine on the Administration Tool. A compatibility function has been added to work on PHP <5 servers.
- A PHP warning message is produced on requests where the session has not been started (ie, for search engine spiders). This is due to referencing the $_SESSION superglobal variable in tep_session_is_registered() which does not exist if the session has not started. A check for this variable has been added to this function.
Now is a good time to upgrade your osCommerce store if you are running an earlier buggy and unsecure version of osCommerce! Aptcode will of course offer upgrades to any store owner running the 2.2MS2 version of osCommerce at a low, fixed price. Please get in touch to receive more details. CONTACT US. |
