How to create product attributes |

This is a list of steps to take to create a product attribute.
First log in to the admin side of your store.
- Go to the Product Attributes editor listed under the Catalog Menu.
- Look Top Left for the Product Options table. Create a Label for the product attribute you want to offer, keep it generic so you can use it elsewhere.
- Lets create a “Size” label if not already listed there.
- Next you have to create “values” for this label, so look Top Right for the Option Values table.
- At the bottom of the Option Values there is a drop down selector for all the Product Options that exist. Select the “Size” Option there.
- To the right of that selected option there is an input box where you can enter a name of a value that you want to connect to the option.
- Set a suitable value for size – say “Small”, then press the button to right called “insert”. You now have a selectable attribute “Size” that has a value “Small”
- Create other size values such as Medium, Large Etc. as required.
- Now you have to assign this size attribute to products that require it. So look at the Product Attributes table below.
- First look at the bottom of the table far left. There is a drop down to select any product. Choose a product that needs a Size attribute.
- To the right of that drop down choose the attribute option (In this case Size). Look again to the immediate right and select the Size Value you want (say “Small”)..
- Look right and you see a Price Value input box, if this attribute has a cost then enter it there. Ignore if no cost value wanted.
- Look Right and in the Prefix box you can enter a + or – character to apply the cost positively or to reduce.
- Click Insert button to the right to apply this attribute.
- Apply more Size attributes to products as required until completed.
